Challenging an Assumption About Maintaining Enthusiasm

I have a thought that is a little unconventional: Everybody is assuming that President-Elect Obama has to act RIGHT NOW or he'll lose the momentum and opportunity of this moment. But you know, NN disappears from peoples minds, then shows up and does awesome things, and then returns to the background. I think there is a lesson to be learned from this. And besides, is it reasonable to expect the energy of the campaign to continue indefinitely? I don't think so.

President-Elect Obama has shown himself to be thoughtful and patient, and I think that should be the expectation for the-big-thing-he-asks-people-to-do-next. Just as he ran a disciplined campaign, he will will not be reactionary to the pressure to do something immediately just to "maintain enthusiasm." That would be shallow. I think he has earned the voters trust and loyalty and that gives him time to build meaningful long term programs with the public's cooperation.
